How to Cook Frozen Empanadas Like a Pro

When you purchase Quebracho’s Minnesota frozen empanadas, you’re choosing the most convenient way to have freshly cooked empanadas at home. Not only are our empanadas pre-made with nutritious, high quality ingredients, but they can also be prepared in several ways. It all depends on what is most convenient for your family! We craft our dough and fillings specifically to allow for versatile preparation while still getting great texture and flavor. Pro tip: after buying our Minnesota frozen empanadas, you don’t even need to thaw them before cooking them!

Our packaging offers instructions for cooking our empanadas, but here’s a more in-depth look at how to create a perfectly crisped and golden snack.

Cook Empanadas in the Oven

This method of cooking may provide the best experience. It allows the empanadas to cook perfectly with a nice crispy exterior. To bake your empanadas, set the oven to 350 degrees and cook for 20-30 minutes. You can ensure the best-cooked exterior and most efficient cook time by preheating your oven beforehand. If you’re looking for a quick snack and don’t want to heat up your full-sized oven, you can also bake these in your toaster oven.

Fry Empanadas Using Your Air Fryer

Air fryers have been all the rage recently – and for good reason! They can cook nearly any meal or snack quickly, and they’re a healthy way to get things extra crispy. Who doesn’t love extra crispy?

We gave our empanadas a try in an air fryer and found that 20 minutes at the lowest setting (ours went down to 170°F) did the trick. This allows the empanada to warm through while the outside slowly develops a nice golden-brown color. If your kids know how to operate your air fryer, our empanadas are a great after school snack they can easily cook themselves!

On the Grill

Some days you just don’t want to turn on the oven. If you’re enjoying time in the backyard this summer and don’t want to come in for dinner, preheat the grill and get ready to chow down on empanadas! You will avoid heating up your house, and you’ll keep your backyard party going. Wrap the empanadas in aluminum foil and grill them for 20-30 minutes. You can open up the foil for a few minutes before serving them to crisp them up a bit.

Marshmallow Style

No- we're not kidding! We actually tried roasting our empanadas over an open fire and they were amazing, warm, crispy and smoky. Just make sure to start with a thawed empanada if you go this rustic route!
