Make Your Own Empanadas – Learn How with This Virtual Class!

Customers throughout the Twin Cities visit their local co-ops to pick up Quebracho’s products, which come in three tasty flavors for both vegetarians and meat eaters, when they need to make a quick snack or dinner.

Learn From Local Chefs

Mississippi Market offers a variety of free, virtual classes that are available to the public. Many of these classes are presented by local chefs and business owners that are passionate about what they do and want to share it with attendees throughout the Twin Cities. Quebracho’s team is certainly passionate about what we do, so we were excited to have the opportunity to lead a class about empanadas! 

During this class, which will be held live from 6 pm-7:30 pm on March 31st, Belén will explain how to make sweet corn empanadas from scratch. That’s right, from the dough to the filling, you’ll learn how to do it all! Each empanada bite brings a well-balanced texture of creamy and crunchy corn, followed by sweet and savory notes that end with a mild hint of spice. You’ll also learn a little bit about how this type of filling became common and where it originated. 

For this recipe, Belén has chosen to support a local farm whose delicious frozen sweet corn can be found year-round at Mississippi Market. Pick some up after the class and use your new knowledge to create your own empanadas!

Why Not Try Something New?

Busy families aren’t always in the mood to spend hours cooking dinner on a weeknight, which is why many of our customers choose to quickly and easily prepare Quebracho empanadas during busy times. But many home cooks have more time on the weekends to cook their dinner from scratch, so why not get a little adventurous and try making something new? The empanadas you’ll learn about are very similar to the options we sell at grocery stores and co-ops, but they have a unique filling that will be fun to taste for the first time.  

Because it is virtual, our empanada-making class isn’t just for Twin Cities residents. In fact, it can be attended by anyone in the entire world! In 2020, Mississippi Market actually had to upgrade their Zoom membership because they had 495 virtual attendees from all over the globe. These folks hailed from Denmark, Australia, Argentina, and many other states in the US.
